Cerebral palsy is a disease of the brain that results in moderate to severe motor impairment, and may be accompanied by other dysfunctions involving cognition and behavior. The disease is best known for the stereotyped physical effects that ensue. They are numerous and include general motor dysfunction, manifesting in the form of disturbed balance, posture and gait, as well as deformation of bones, and improper joint and muscle functioning. Physical abnormalities of the brain can often be identified through neuroimaging techniques in cerebral palsy patients.
